We're building the Chinese-learning app we wished existed when we started.
Made by language learners and speech engineers in Beijing, Shenzhen, and the Bay Area. For English speakers who want to 说中文shuō zhōng wén · speak Chinese, not collect flashcards.
Who we are
LingoTouch is a small team — six people across three timezones — split evenly between language pedagogy, speech-recognition engineering, and product design. We've been working on Chinese learning tools since 2022.
We've all learned a second language as adults. Three of us are native Chinese speakers who learned English. Three of us are native English speakers who learned Chinese. The collision between those two perspectives is where the product comes from.
Why LingoTouch exists
Most Chinese-learning apps are flashcard apps with extra features. They train you to recognize characters out of context — and most learners hit a wall at intermediate level when they realize they can read a menu but can't have a conversation.
We took a different bet: start with the conversation, not the character. Drop you into an illustrated Chinese scene — a hot pot place, a subway, a hospital — and let you discover words by tapping objects you can see. Hear the audio. Practice speaking. Get tone-level feedback from an AI coach. The character recognition follows naturally.
Our methodology page explains the learning loop in detail: Read the LingoTouch methodology →
How we're different
- Scenes, not lessons. Every word lives inside a real-world place. You don't memorize 火锅 — you see one, tap it, hear it, use it.
- Tone-level pronunciation feedback. Most apps grade you "pass / fail." Ours scores each tone individually.
- Audio recorded by Sichuan, Beijing, and Shanghai natives — not synthesized.
